Tri-City Motor Speedway is seeking a reliable, dependable and outgoing individual for Friday evenings from 5pm-1am (hours may vary). The position will begin in late April and runs through early September. Applicants must be able to work the full season (up to one scheduled day off per race season). You are able to work at another racetrack that races on a different night of the week.
Pit Operations Leader is in charge of overseeing all pit operations including: hauler inspections, driver check-in, tire barn sales and service, vehicle inspection, training and running through drills with the safety crew, line-ups (text, pit board and vehicle), scales, line-up chute, hot pits, payout and general pit safety. Pit Operations is the go to person for drivers to get their questions answered or to find the answer for the driver in a reasonable amount of time.
Job Duties Include:
- Welcomes all drivers to TCMS each week.
- Makes sure new driver’s questions are answered and they are familiarized with the track procedures, layout and rules.
- Is present at the drivers meeting and after all races are completed where drivers can get their questions addressed.
- Coordinates and directs racing activities at racetrack.
- Line-ups up cars for each race.
- Observes team member’s performing duties to make sure compliance with TCMS guidelines.
- Controls traffic to make sure only authorized vehicles are in pit.
- Directs vehicles to assigned places in pit.
- Speak with drivers about their concerns and questions throughout the night.
- Make notes of driver concerns that need to be addressed.
- Oversees hot pit stops
- Oversees line-up area ensuring crew members stay by their own cars and that cars are ready and lined up two races early to keep the show moving.
- Consults with race scorers to resolve scoring disputes.
- Assesses race procedure penalties for rule violations based on TCMS rule book.
- Writes reports to record all complaints, actions taken and penalties imposed.
- May inspect vehicles drivers for safety equipment, like seat belts, harnesses, window nets, and helmets.
